LET THERE BE LIGHT
Lighting is an often-overlooked element in the bedroom. This is a huge mistake. If you don't like how you look in the glow of a fitting room, having fluorescent overhead lighting is just about as bad. Set up other light sources in your room such as table lamps and candles and use those to achieve the best lighting for your rendezvous. Use pink-tinted light bulbs to flatter your skin even more. Candles are also an excellent addition. You get romantic ambiance and also great mood lighting. To keep the glow longer, and safer, consider battery operated flameless candles.
ACCENTS OF LOVE
What you put in your room should be weighed very carefully against your overall desired theme and mood. If it doesn't gel with your ideal, don't let it even cross the threshold of your bedroom. For some additional ideas, consider these tips:
MOOD KILLERS
Keeping in mind that this is your place for love, certain objects may not be best suited for your playroom. Hidden mood killers include:
Laundry
When you're in the beginning stages of passionate play, looking over and seeing a pile of dirty clothes isn't going to help. Find a place to keep your dirty clothes that's out of sight and out of mind.
Clutter
Nothing is more distracting, especially to women, than clutter. Consider the minimalist approach in your bedroom and keep only things that are necessary for setting your mood. If having additional items is a necessity in your bedroom, find a way to conceal them with boxes, baskets or drawers.
Computers or Office Equipment
While you may need extra space for your home office, the bedroom isn't the place for it. How can you close the door on your work day if that's where you spend your alone time with your partner. If you "must" keep it in your bedroom, think if ways to creatively hide it or keep it a separate space such as using a divider. You can use a screen divider, bookcases, or even curtains hung from the ceiling. Computer armoirs can also achieve the same result.
Photos of Children or Family Members
We all want reminders of the people we love. However, the bedroom isn't always the best place for some of them. Keep the mood of the room in check with photos of places you've visited, pictures of the two of you together or sensual photography.
Stuffed Toys/Mementos
Stuffed toys are cute and memorable, but really, do they belong in the bedroom while you're trying to be a sex goddess? It definitely sends the opposite message of anything erotic.
MOOD SETTERS
In addition to some of the ideas listed in mood killers, here are a few more tips:
Flowers/Live Plants
Nothing says vitality like a thriving plant. Keep in mind your color scheme and pick flowers or plants accordingly. Roses, tulips and daisies are common romantic favorites.
Candles
When you think of romance, one of the first things that comes to mind is candlelight. Use this to your advantage in your den of love.
Romantic/Sensual Accents
Sensual photography, artwork, sculptures or collectibles are a great addition to any passionate bedroom. You might also want to set the tone with artwork from a particular location you both enjoy.
Basket of Lovin'
Keep a secret basket, drawer or chest of your love toys handy and easily accessible. Things to include could include lotions, massage oils, scarves, toys and anything else you both like to use or try for your love play.
The Wardrobe of a Sex Goddess
Keep your lingerie in a prominent position in your closet. This creates two effects. One, it's easy to use whenever the put strikes and two, it serves as a daily teaser for your lover.
